1 Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to recognise and encourage academic excellence.

2 Scope

This policy refers to all students of Top Education Institute who are currently enrolled in a three year Bachelor of International Business and have successfully completed their first year of the undergraduate study.

3 Definitions

GPA means Grade Point Average a measure of a student's academic achievement.

4 Procedures

4.1 Scholarships

4.1.2 Top Education Academic Excellence Scholarships.

Scholarships are awarded to the students who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement in their studies with Top Education.

4.1.3 Type

The scholarship entitles the students to further tuition with Top Education at a reduced cost, for their second and third years of study as an undergraduate.

4.1.4 Value

4.1.5 Each Scholarship is a dollar amount that will be deducted from the cost of the student’s following year of education at Top Education.

4.1.7 Duration

4.1.7.1 One year – the student’s following year of academic study.

4.1.7.2 The scholarship may be extended to a second year if the student has to withdraw from studies due to unavoidable circumstances such as ill health or a family emergency. Each situation will be considered individually and a decision will be made by the Academic Board.

4.1.8 Eligibility

Enrolled in Top Education’s Bachelor of International Business on a fulltime basis.
Achieving the highest academic GPA for the previous year’s study, or the highest score in a Unit of Study.
Demonstrated dedication and commitment to their studies.
Hold an Australian Citizenship, Australian Permanent Residency or Student Visa.

4.1.9 Selection

4.1.9.1 Scholarships will be awarded to the students who have demonstrated the greatest potential and achievement as determined through their GPA and an Interview with the Director of Business Programs and the Principal.

4.1.9.2 Recommendations will then be considered by the Academic Board. The Academic Board will then refer their selection to the Institute Council which will make the final decision and make a formal offer to the selected student.

4.1.10 Offer

A formal offer of a scholarship will be made to the selected student in writing from the Top Education Institute Council. The student must formally accept the scholarship at least 4 weeks before the commencement of the first semester of their following years study.

4.2 Awards

4.2.1 Each year Top Education will award certificates of merit to outstanding students for various academic programs and achievements. This will include the formal presentation of scholarship awards.

4.2.2 Awards will be presented to students at the annual Graduation Ceremony.
