The Master of Business Research is designed to provide students with an advanced level of specialised knowledge and skills for research in the management and commerce (business) disciplines, with emphasis on recent and ongoing developments in this field.
The course will equip graduates with advanced knowledge of a wide range of theoretical and empirical research methods, and will enable them to make their own contribution to the body of knowledge by completing an independent research project.
This course is a specialised program for students who are interested in a research career and employment opportunities existing in higher education institutions or with commercial research employers. It also provides a pathway to a higher learning as an admission requirement for a doctoral degree.
Applications must be accompanied by a 2,000 word proposal, which should outline the main focus of the applicant's research interest, a commentary on important and recent literature in this area, and a discussion of why this is an important area of research. All proposals must acknowledge sources correctly. Proposals may be checked using a plagiarism checking system.
In this coursework component, students develop their capacity to conduct rigorous independent research. They also undertake advanced coursework that integrates conceptual and practical issues within the business discipline as well as, by guided independent study, the narrower discipline of their research.
The average salary for an employee in the Business Research, Analysis, and Advisory Services industry in 2015, according to PayScale, is between $52,381 and $117,000.
