 Unit Overview:

This unit deals with key marketing concepts, analytical methods and decision tools necessary for understanding the dynamic nature of marketing situations facing different organisations, and undertaking marketing decisions to deal with such situations. The unit requires students to explain the rationale and processes behind key concepts such as market segmentation, targeting and positioning and explores how organisations mix and leverage the various elements of the ‘marketing mix’ to develop and deliver customer perceived value and build competitive advantage for the organisation. A core element of the unit is students’ participation in the online business simulation game ‘Practice Marketing’ in which they gain hands-on experience of analysing fluid marketing situations and developing and implementing marketing strategy and tactics within a realistic, competitive environment.
